This bespoke penthouse apartment in Mexico City for a private client was designed to be the ultimate bachelor pad. Covering the entire 27th floor of a Cesar Pelli residential tower. This single bedroom 8000 sq ft penthouse offers spectacular views over the city.
The project re-evaluates apartment dwelling as a typology that needs to facilitate contemporary life-styles by using the idea of the interior as a dynamic environment. The high-rise flat is perceived conceptually as a conventional suburban house and garden combined with a work-space.
The interior becomes a landscape in which programme is organized along a central promenade. On one side a gym, bespoke corian jacuzzi, bar and cinema create an informal area for recreation and play. Opposite to this are the formal programmes of dining, conversation and work.
Extra-large sliding doors allow the open garden areas to be reconfigured to accommodate events such as fashion shows and parties which are a significant part of the clients life and profession.
When needed the spaces can be separated to create discrete territories that provide intimacy and diversity.
