The scheme provides an inclusive community facility including the Open Door well-being centre, Older People’s centre and sports hall in East Marsh. The project has been developed through extensive local consultation to under¬stand the specific social, healthcare and amenity requirements of the local area. The three main facilities utilise distinct typologies, shed, street and courtyard linked by public and private landscapes and interstitial programs such as a community allotment, café and kitchen.
The premises being developed will cater for both health and social care in welcoming, comforting and non-institutional environments. Each program serves a pressing local need whilst open, robust and adaptable spaces will encourage use by the wider community.
